Take a 993 Turbo and a 993 RS 3.8, keep the best of them : you've just got the 993 GT2.

More power, less weight, wider wings, big spoilers on front and rear. Pure sport, pure excitment. The 911 GT2 is wonderful.

From the beginnig, Porsche had always proposed racing versions of the 911. After the 911 3.8 RSR and 965 "LeMans", they were ready to propose a new turbocharged racing 911, based on the 993 design. But the car was expected by the statements to be homologuated for road purpose. So, a model came to complete the 1995 911 serie, the 911 GT2.

The GT2 has been lightened as a 993 RS : no eletric equipment to move windows, to adjust mirrors, to listen radio or CD, no clim... Rear seats have been removed and the front ones are light bucket. As on the RS, there isn't place anymore for panels and soundproofing materials and you can only open the doors with handles and straps. The steering wheel features three branches and no Airbag (option). All windows are made of thin glass, exception made of the front one. The body is fitted with a lot of pieces made of aluminium (doors, front lid). The beautiful look of the GT2 also resides in the plastic fender flares used to enlarge the body. That wasn't unavoidable on the civil version but on the competition models, yes to accomodate with 10.5Jx18 and 12.5Jx18 wheels. Front and rear spoilers are very useful from different point of view. Mechanically, the front one gives more air for brakes, radiator and oil radiator. The rear one provides more air to the engine. Aerodinamically, they are very useful for vehicle stability and agility. On the other way, they penalize topspeed. That's why the GT2 can't pass 300kph barrier.

The engine is the same than on the 993 Turbo, with some modifications to reach 430hp. The main difference is the maximum boost pressure that have been raised from 0.8 to 0.9 bar. A new oil radiator has been fitted on the front of the car, and it is really effective to cool down the engine. Gearbox, clutch system have also been reinforced, and they are more stronger if the ClubSport package is ordered. The chassis received a lot of evolutions compared to the 993 Turbo, even if they're similar but the GT2 one is a constant compromise betwwen road and competition usage.

The body of the GT2 is reinforced compared to the Turbo's one and receive a shock tower brace. It is lowered from 2cm on front and rear axle compared to the 993 Turbo. The GT2 receives new frontaxle kinematics; a stiffer subframe and relevant link bearings for the rear axle provide even more precise wheel control. All stabilizers are adjustable in different positions. There are five for the front one and three for the rear one. All these modifiactions are close to those available on the Cup 3.8, to adapt the car according to different adherence, weather, surface conditions. The camber on the rear axle is more marked, to go faster when cornering, in total safety. Combined to the ABD braking differrential, the GT2 is a very agile car, more stable on a sinous road and has got a true efficient motricity. Adherence hasn't been forgotten with 235/40 ZR 18 and 285/35 ZR 18 tyres, mounted on light alloying wheels feturing 9Jx18" and 11Jx18" sizes

As on every Porsche, available braking power is fabulous and easy to use. But on the GT2, the system is over-dimensionned regarding the weight of the car. Competition requires it. An hydraulic system combined with a performant ABS5 and high-pressure brake servo make sure that the braking power will be applied in a cool and efficient way, but if you get the best of the brake pedal while in support, be sure to lock the wheels... The extraordinary power is due to ventilated and perforated 322mm discs on front and rear. They are pressed by large fixed aluminium calipers with four pistons. Moreover, the air intakes in the front spoiler allow a very good air cooling. If the GT isn't enough athletic for you, you can order the ClubSport package : rool bar, sixpoint seat harness, main battery switch, fire extinguisher and contoured bucket seats. Of course, it reponds to race regulations but in some countries, the car is again homologuated for road usage. Of course, it demands necessary steps. A few options are also available : Hi-Fi system, sport seats, airbags for driver and passenger, air conditioning, electric window lifts...
