The DBR 2 was a British race car produced from 1957 till 1958.
In the middle of the fifties Aston Martin was trying to reach two goals : to make better race cars than Jaguar did and to be a make where future GT engines could be tested. So they build the DBR 1 which was followed by the DBR 2n especially build to race.
The chassis of the DBR 2 was originally designed for a V12 Lagonda engine, the reason for his unusual width, but the DBR 2 never received that engine. Instead it was fitted with a straight six (designed by Tadek Marek).
The body was designed by Ted Cutting in a few weeks time
